Arx Equity Partners has invested in a Czech construction materials company by backing a management buy-out. The deal for a majority stake in Krkonošské vápenky Kunčice (KVK) includes subsidiary Parabit.

Upon acquiring Czech opthalmology company Lexum Group last year, ARX Equity Partners pledged to work with Lexum founder Marc Filipec to expand the company within Central and Eastern Europe. Holding to that pledge Lexum recently announced the acquisition of Intermedica, a leading player in Poland's opthalmology clinic market, for an undisclosed price.

Czech private equity firm Arx Equity Partners has completed a second closing for its Arx III fund at €102 million, moving ever closer to the target size of €125 million. The fund's first close, at €83 million, was completed in October of last year. Despite the current difficult fund raising environment, Arx's proven track record with its first two funds has helped to keep veteran investors on board while also attracting new ones.

In 2008 Arx Equity Partners acquired commercial textile manufacturer Lanex a.s., and Singing Rock s.r.o. Now the companies are near completion of a merger that also includes BWA Czech a.s.; the conclusion of which will come when the new corporation is added to the Commercial Register on June 1st. Lanex a.s. will be the operating name of the new company while Singing Rock will continue development, marketing, and manufacture of its products under the current brand name. Structurally, Singing Rock will operate as a strategic business unit of Lanex.

European private equity firm ARX has completed the acquisition of Czech opthalmology provider Lexum Group through a leveraged buyout. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the transaction has been funded through the Czech LBBW Bank.

Polish pet store chain Kakadu has been acquired by Arx Equity Partners, as the European private equity firm purchased a controlling stake for an undisclosed sum. The purchase was orchestrated using Arx Equity's DBG Eastern Europe II and ARX CEE III funds. The investment marks the debut of the Arx CEE III fund which has a target close of €125 million.

Arx Central and Eastern Europe III Fund L.P., the third CEE fund from Arx Equity Parnters, held its first closing with EUR 83 million. The largest commitments came from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Fund. The final close for the fund is targeted at EUR 125 million.
