Atlanta Start Invests $400K in Fabrika Futbola

It's no secret that Russian internet companies are actively involved in sponsoring local football clubs, and now there seems to be new interest among internet investors to expand into the online football business. Following in the footsteps of SUP Media, which acquired Championat.ru in 2006, venture capital fund Atlanta Start has acquired a blocking minority stake in Fabrika Futbola, a Russian online football game. The purchase price has been estimated at USD 400,000.

Based in Moscow, Fabrika Futbola is a company that operates an online 3D football game to users throughout Russia and neighboring countries. Translated in English as Football Factory, users must download and install the Fabrika Futbola software on their computers. The software is free but play is accessed by the purchase of credits from the company. Statistics regarding the number of current and total users is not publicly available.
