Datagroup, the Ukrainian telecom servicing mainly corporate clients, has agreed to sell 25% of its total shares to Horizon Capital for USD 40 million. The new funds are slated by the company to be used in expanding beyond the corporate market. Datagroup will step up efforts to move into the retail sector by acquiring regional fixed network telecoms. The company has previously engaged in the strategy but was forced to slow down due to the economic crisis. Datagroup will work with Horizon Capital to raise up to USD $100 million more over the next several years.

Ukrainian agricultural company Agro-Soyuz has a new financial partner after reaching an investment deal with Horizon Capital. Horizon will acquire an Agro-Soyuz stake in return for a $40 million investment via its Emerging Europe Growth Fund II. The deal marks the second investment for the $390 million fund and the first by Horizon since the start of the global financial crisis.

Citing a very successful investment over the last several years, Eastern European private equity firm Horizon Capital has exited Natur Bravo, selling its controlling stake to a group of private investors. The sale of the stake, which was owned by Horizon's Emerging Europe Growth Fund LP, marks the second exit for the fund since its 2007 close.

Moldavian glass packaging company Glass Container Prim, has announced the securing of a $10 million 6-year loan deal from the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB). The BSTDB Board of Directors approved the loan in early April to help complete construction of a new manufacturing facility in Chisinau. With a total start-up cost of approximately USD 35 million, the new facility will create additional jobs and have a production capacity of 140 million bottles annually. The project is the first one in Moldavia to receive capital investment from BSTDB.

Two of Ukraine's leading retail grocery providers have agreed to a deal which would merge the two companies. Soyuz Ltd., operators of the Kvartal economy stores and Soyuz Supermarkets, will join forces with Evrotek, operators of the Fresh Market chain.

Horizon Capital closed its newest fund, Emerging Europe Growth Fund II (EEGF II) with a total capital commitment of USD 390 million. Horizon Capital initially targeted a fund size of USD 300 million, but EEGF was oversubscribed within nine months.

IMB Group Public Ltd., Ukraine’s leading pure-play consumer lender, announced a USD 100 million equity financing round. With existing shareholders Horizon Capital, East Capital contributing USD 56.2 million of the round, an additional USD 43.8 million was subscribed by Warburg Pincus.

Emerging Europe Growth Fund LP (“EEGF”), a fund managed by Horizon Capital, sold its controlling stake in Shostka City Milk Plant to French Fromageries Bel S.A.
