Daimler AG recently announced it has begun the process to strengthen its position and role KAMAZ, the Russian truck and bus manufacturer in which it already owns a 10% interest. Daimler has teamed up with the EBRD and signed a memorandum of understanding to purchase a 5% stake currently owned by Troika Dialog. Under terms of the proposal, the deal would be completed as two transactions; Daimler would acquire 1% with the EBRD getting the remaining 4%.

Just days before being de-listed from London's AIM, Russian media giant Rambler Media received a shareholder notification from Moscow-based Troika Dialog. The notification states Troika's interest in acquiring 466,683 ordinary shares in Rambler, on top of what was purchased a week earlier. The shares represent just over 3% of Rambler's issued ordinary share capital and will be sold for USD 0.01 per share.

German car maker Daimler appears to be working on a deal with Troika Dialog to buy an additional 15% of Kamaz, the financially troubled Russian truck manufacturer. If Daimler, which already owns 10% of Kamaz, can work out a deal with an acceptable price it would then own a blocking share of 25% and be able to exert greater influence. Minority shareholder Russian Technologies is also interested in acquiring the Troika stake but the Russian government appears more preferential to Western investors.

Cloud computing pioneer Evernote recently announced the close of its Series B financing round, to the tune of USD 10 million and led by Morgenthaler Ventures. The round was joined by Series A investors Troika Dialog and DOCOMO who contributed a combined USD 6.5 million in the first round. Evernote plans to use the new funding to help expand its current services through local language translations and multiple platform options.

Russian car giant AvtoVaz appears on the verge of bankruptcy and is seeking help from Vnesheconombank (VEB), the Russian state-run development bank. A plan has been developed to provide AvtoVaz with a RUB 12 billion investment if state-run creditors can get in on the company's share capital.

Web multimedia start-up VidiMax has received a USD 4.25 million capital boost as it develops technology and prepares for the launch of its commercial services next year. The venture capital came by way of Troika Dialog, the leading independent investment bank in Russia, giving the firm a majority stake in VidiMax. Troika believes in the success of the start-up as estimates suggest nearly 10% of Russian pay TV subscribers also watch online video content regularly.

Following a visit from a Russian delegation which included Troika Dialog Group Managing Director Andrei Sharonov and Russian Federation President Dmitry Medvedev, Standard Bank has announced plans to invest in a 33% stake of the Russian investment bank Troika Dialog. The deal is designed to encourage more Russian companies to become active in countries where Standard operates, especially those on the African continent.

The EBRD and Russian investment bank Troika Dialog have inked a deal that will provide Troika a loan of up to USD 150 million over the next five years. The loan, which is senior ranking and unsecured, will provide Troika with a stable and long term source of capital, thereby allowing the bank to continue developing its business in Russian Markets. The EBRD deal comes on the heals of Troika finding a strategic partner in Standard Bank this past March.

S.N. Safe&Software, the Russian security software provider, is receiving a capital investment from Troika Capital Partners. The deal will infuse nearly $3.6 million (RUB 120 million) into the company to help further its Safe’n'Sec complex computer protection system as well as other technologies currently under development.

Russian Troika Venture Fund led an investment into online productivity company, Evernote. The total volume of the transaction reaches USD 4.5 million. Evernote will use the funds to further develop and market its product.

Daimler AG, Kamaz, Russian Technologies and Troika Dialog have signed a strategic partnership that expands Daimler's involvement in Russia's truck market. According to the deal, Troika Dialog has sold a 10 percent stake in the share capital of Kamaz for USD 250 million. The company will also make a one-time payment of USD 50 million due in 2012 depending on the successful performance of Kamaz.

The Republic of Tatarstan is set to sell its 37.8 percent stake in Kamaz-Capital to Troika Dialog Group's subsidiary, Avtoinvest Ltd. Each share was purchased at USD 3.38 to 3.94 per share, giving the transaction an approximate value of USD 300 to 350 million.

Troika Capital Partners, representing Troika Dialog Investments Limited, has sold its shares of AvtoVAZ to Renault. As part of the agreement, Renault will invest USD 1 billion into AvtoVAZ in an effort to enable the company to expand it line of vehicles and leverage the company's other chief investor Russian Technologies.

Troika Capital Partners, managers of the Russian New Growth Fund, have become shareholders in SantaHouse. The fund purchased 25% plus 1 share of the hypermarket chain, however the value and amount of investment is unavailable at this time. However, with household goods one of the fastest growing sectors in the Russian economy, Troika Capital Partners believes its investment will prove to be a wise diversification in its portfolio.

Troika Capital Partners announced the purchase of a minority stake in URSA Bank. The Russia New Growth Fund, managed by Troika Capital now controls a 7.94 percent stake in the company.

Russian New Growth Fund held its final closing, reaching US $345 million. The fund, managed by Russian private equity firm, Troika Capital Partners beat its original target by 15 percent. Launched in January of 2006, the fund has successfully secured 18 different investors from all over the world. Of the committed funds, 68 percent come from Europe, 24 percent from Asia and the remainder from firms in the U.S. and Brazil. Some of the limited partners recently disclosed include Alpha Associates, AXA Private Equity, Goldman Sachs Asset Management and LGT Capital Partners.

Russian state arms dealer Rosoboronexport has sold its 17 percent stake in carmaker AvtoVAZ to the country's largest investment company, Troika Dialog. Rosoboronexport took over management of the firm in 2005 and has worked to eliminate the plant's cross-ownership.
